COVID crisis has been a stressful journey for a lot of people. While there has been a lot of awareness about physical health and hygiene, mental health has taken a back seat for many. Lockdown and social disconnection is a cause for this. Job aspirants have been worried about their exams and vacancies to be announced like the rrb je vacancy announcement. Empty markets and shops, fear of catching the infection, loss of a job, pay cuts, social isolation and quarantine have negatively impacted people and have caused depression and anxiety in the otherwise healthy individuals.

Here we have some tips for you to manage your stress and maintain good mental health.

Take charge of your stress:

To manage your stress, try to stick to healthy habits. Prioritizing your sleep, and maintaining good sleep hygiene. Eat healthily and do not skip meals.

Exercise to lower your stress levels. Physical activities will help you to regulate your emotions more and will also improve your sleep.

For the competitive exam aspirants, the advice is that they should not worry about the cutoffs like the rrb je cut off and prepare with a peaceful mind instead.

Know your red flags:

Identify the emotions and thoughts that cause stress to you or produce anxiety.

These can be negative thoughts about being trapped in your house or not being able to meet your dear ones. After you know about these thoughts, you need to apply strategies to get out of these.

The best one is to simply stop thinking and getting engaged in some other activity. You can also practise yoga and breathing exercises in such scenarios.

Maintain connections

Even the most introverted person needs some sense of belonging to others for mental calm.

Isolation due to lockdown has brought a breakdown in the communication channel. You must still try to break the barrier and communicate with people as much as possible.

In this digital world, apps like Google Meet and Zoom play an amazing part in bring teams and friends together.

Try to leverage these to full your social need void.

Manage your expectations

Do not underestimate or ignore the mental and emotional havoc that this pandemic will bring along with itself. Instead, accept it, embrace it and plan accordingly.

Go easy on yourself. Do not be too harsh about your goal achievements and events. Ne ready to take the bullet of a delay from this pandemic. The idea is to stay fit and increase productivity instead of reducing it die to mental stress. Instead of seeing the bad part, look at the good part. For example, you might be getting a chance to live with your family and spend more time with them, which would otherwise be impossible due to your job responsibilities.

Be in a Routine

Maintaining a routine is one of the most important parts of living a stress-free life during the pandemic. When you have a routine, your tasks and activities are time-bound and defined. You do not have much time to overthink or stress about unnecessary events. Try to include exercise and other stress-relieving activities that you love to pursue as hobbies in your daily routine. Doing what you like is the biggest stress buster and antidepressant.

Take each day as it comes. Do not think about the future, Focus on the things that you can do now instead of the ones that you think you could be doing if it were not for the pandemic.
