Whenever you suffer any personal injury during an accident, if you have a personal injury attorney then he will get compensation for you from the insurance company. A personal injury attorney can work for both personal injuries as well as bodily injury.

Though most people think that these two are the same type of injury. But no, they are both different kinds of injury. Let’s learn a little bit about both of them individually then let’s know the difference between them.

Personal Injury:

Personal injury, which is a legal term for an injury, is caused to the body, mind, or emotions as opposed to an injury to property or any non-living thing. This kind of injury is the result of the carelessness of your part of someone else’s, negligence and wrongful conduct by another person to you. Personal injury can be caused by you or some other person.

You can also get a personal injury by using some electronic product or something as well. Suppose if you were in a car accident and it was the other person’s fault but you also suffered some physical injuries from it then that injury will be called a personal injury.

Bodily Injury:

Bodily injury, similar to personal injury, is an injury to the body, mind or emotions. But this injury is caused by you to someone else. Suppose if you were in a car accident and you hit someone who was walking by and the person has suffered injuries then those injuries are wrongful bodily injuries.

Bodily injuries are considered to be those injurieswhich was caused by you to someone else. Though the concept of it is similar to the personal injury but they are different as well.

Difference between Personal Injuryvs. Bodily Injury:

The below mentioned are some of the differences which can help you understand how personal injury and bodily injury are different from each other.

Personal Injury Bodily Injury
This is the injury which you suffer, which can be caused by yourself or someone else. This is the injury which someone else suffers which is caused by you.
Personal Injury Insurance can be claimed by the person who have suffered physical injuries from the insurance company or the person responsible for it.

If you have a personal injury insurance, then you can get compensation for the injuries which you have suffered from the insurance company as well as the person responsible for that injury.

Bodily Injury Insurance, most of the times, covers the expenses of the person who is not responsible for the accident but has suffered injuries to their body due to it.

If you have a bodily injury insurance, then you don’t have to pay the person who you might have caused injuries. The insurance will cover the expenses for you.

In this situation, the personal injury attorney will help you to get the compensation which you deserve. In this situation, the personal injury attorney helps you with your case and with the charges of the bodily injury insurance. They also deal with the expenses given to the injured on your behalf.
