Just like many other things, homework is also one of the essential parts of children’s lives. It becomes more complex and demanding and there is no comparison between the old ages “when we were kids”. Teachers do have more expectations from the students and whereas the parents who play a challenging part in their child’s life. They are having some additional challenges like controlling iPhone/iPad/computer uses and master the curriculum.
Despite, homework does not add up to the actual grade of any students but it is here to stay. The good news is “as a parent” you do not need to be involved much as you think. To be precise, you shouldn’t be. The only purpose of giving homework to the students is to make them independent learners. However, as a parent, you do have some duties to fulfill and to help your children with the homework not directly but indirectly.
There is good news. I am adding some pieces of tactics to make the process of involving parents less involved in their child’s homework. Indirectly, you would be helping them. Let’s have a look.

Help & let your child create a routine
The first step is to empower and motivate your child for the homework. As a parent, you need to help them create a perfect scheduled routine and ask them to when, where, and in how much time they should complete every allowed assignment.
You can also ask them if they are having any ideas for making homework more manageable and easy for the parents and child both then there is nothing wrong with going up with their planned schedules. (If it suits you)
You can offer them many suggestions like having a cupful of snacks and tea before the homework or a basketball match in the playground after homework or watching their favorite television show for the allowed time after completing their homework.
Even, sometimes you can be strict with them as it is necessary for the child ages near about 9-12. You can ask them for no screen, no games and not anything until and until they complete their school or given homework. (It is necessary as most of the time children do not listen to their parents)
A parent should be there to monitor (But not help to correct)
Homework does help the teachers to identify what the students had learned during the class session. So, do not turn into an assignment by copying everything from the internet.
Teachers like to see mistakes and not all kids are comfortable with this point. So, as a parent you need to help your child with the understandings that “mistakes are common” and every human does it but how we would take it on the future is dependent upon us.
As a parent, you should be there to monitor. By this sentence, I mean once your child is done with their homework then you must check it out what they had learned? You can ask for a quick three-question session with your child every night. (This helps in their learning and scoring better in front of the teachers and overall exams)
If your child asks you for help as if they are in the need of something. You must have to over once you finish (This could be whatever you must be doing to help your child with the things). To be an instance, it is not only homework that the teacher assigns to the students.
Sometimes, assignments could be the need of the teacher. It is something like extra marks to the student overall results and it depends upon how well they had completed their assignment. So, as a parent, you should be there to help your child with the things they need. It could be sheets, graphics material, or flower svg.
Moreover, you can even lookout for the products that design bundles. This drastically will help you to understand the requirement of your kid and make it easy for you to order the design, graphics, and other materials for their assignment and that too in a relevant price. I would like to even add some images that may help you to choose between the bundles.
Communicate with their teachers regularly
Communicating with the teachers creates a strong bond between a parent, teacher, and student. It is because the student must be prepared for whatever the circumstances. It should look like you and their teacher are like partners and share everything regularly.
Despite, teachers welcome feedback but do not eager to make some critical comments for your child as it can affect their life during the school hours. The child’s brain all depends upon how well they spent the day during the school hours and a piece of appreciation can help and motivate them to work hard and score best in the results.
Kids should be in charge
Homework is to test the student capability so it is advised to let your kids become their own in charge. They should only write on the notebook whatever they had learned during the class session. Most of the schools banned homework completed by their parents and even added some strict warnings for the restrictions from the school.
If your child complains that they could not be able to complete their homework then let it be. Just turn off their playtime and do not allow them to play outside the home. It will just press the bell on their mind and they will miss their playtime. Meanwhile, they should focus on completing their homework more quickly during this period.
Keep yourself calm
Sometimes, we do not know about the things that our kid must be facing. So, if the kids are crying badly in front of you and complaining about their homework couldn’t be completed due to any reason then let it be.
Sometimes, they only need a hug and care from the parent to become active again. Forcing an intellectual amount of pressure to the student mind can affect their mental state, says child psychologist Laura Markham, Ph.D.
Conclusion
Understanding your child is must be the first concern of every parent and then only they can think of anything else. If you want your child to learn better and become independent then you should help your child with the homework but not in a direct way, there are many tactics to help your child with their homework and some of them I have listed in this article above.
